The Gyeonggi-do government has created a Call Center/Helpline to help foreign residents and visitors. The office operates out of Suwon, but Josh, who works for the 031-120 Helpline says he can provide information on other cities within Gyeonggi Province.

Service Hours: The Gyeonggi-do Call Center (031-120) service is available Monday thru Friday, from 9AM to 6PM.
NB: When you dial up 031-120 ask the person who answers to transfer the call to Josh.

Call Center/Helpline Services:

1. Transportation Information
Metro info (Josh will send a text message if requested) as well as Bus/Subway/train/ferry/etc, including 
timetables, instant departure & arrival times, total required time & distance, quickest ways, locations of bus stops, subway stops, train stops, fares, lost items, general info on air flights and tickets, airport limousines, bus cards, any information related to public transportation.

2. Daily Living Information
Information on a wide range of daily living situations such as help with utility services (hook-up, bills, termination, etc.),  weather forecast translations, contact for repair services, where to find used cell phones, animal hospitals, online & offline shopping, Korean food & restaurants, medical care, cultural differences, Korean language. These are just some of the information Josh promises to provide.

3. Free Interpretation Service (Korean <-> English)
If you encounter non-English speaking staff when you visit local council offices to register your ID or to conduct other business, call 031-120 for some basic interpretation assistance. The Helpline offers a free 'conference call' option to allow 3-way communications. This service may also be useful in a number of circumstances, including car accidents, insurance calls, online shopping, customer service, tourism, etc.

4. Help with Getting Around
If you not sure how to find your destination or if you've gotten lost, you can contact 031-120 and with the aid of satellite pictures, they will do their best to guide you to where you want to go. If you drive and want to know the traffic conditions in a particular area or if there is constructions going on, etc., you can call 031-120 and they will the Korean language instant traffic information sources and then give you the information in English.

5. Access to Government Services
The Helpline also promises to help foreign residents and visitors to find out what government services are available and will explain how to contact the appropriate office/person. This would include where to file work related issues, how to get married/divorced, what health care coverage and services are available in a given part of Gyeonggi-do, etc.

6. Air Quality Information

Information on air quality including pollution and yellow-dust levels, is readily available to Korea's population and 031-120 will give you updates in English.

7. Complaints Assistance
Foreign residents/visitors with work related issues (immigration, severance pay, change of employment, health coverage, work hours, etc), complaints related to human rights, tourist services, consumer protections, etc. can contact 031-120 for information on how to proceed.
